The Highly Sensitive Person Theory
On my journey to self-awareness and personal development, I went on to learn about the common experiences of the Highly Sensitive Person (15-20% of the population) or what is scientifically known as the Sensory Processing Sensitivity trait. This normal trait describes people with increased sensitivities physically, emotionally and/or socially. Strengths include empathy, observation skills, intuition, and creativity. Challenges include feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, avoiding conflict, and over thinking.
Fostering Gratitude: A New Year, A New Opportunity
Life, I believe, is an intentional set of choices. We each hold the reins of personal responsibility and possess the remarkable ability to alter the course of our lives through decisions both big and small. Personal development, in essence, is a lifelong commitment to nurturing emotional intelligence, exercising personal leadership, and consistently making wise choices. One of the wisest choices I believe you can make is to foster gratitude every single day. . .

PT vs PTA: Understanding the Difference
Physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) both play a vital role in the wellness improvement of all patients. Both can treat patients from infants to older adults for injuries, disabilities, post-surgical procedures, prevention, or other health related conditions. PTAs provide care under the direction and supervision of a PT who establishes a plan of care for the patient. PTAs implement interventions for patient care, collect data related to treatments provided, and collaborate with the PT to modify and carry out care as necessary.
Music to Get Through Your Day
We all go through things, even the ones that help you and sometimes we just need a little boost. I reached out to our Two Roads family and asked them what songs they scream sing in their car when they need that boost, or what songs help them get through their days. So many replied so I wanted to put together a TRWC playlist for you to use as well!

Lindsay’s Eating Disorder Story: Grief Can Coexist with Joy
Addiction and bondage to anything only provide a false sense of control that keeps a person on a hamster wheel of misery…but sometimes, it still feels safer than the alternative. Lies become truth, and the mind, heart, and body pay the price. I eventually reached out for help, but the road has been long and bumpy. I have wanted to give up more times than I can count, but God’s great love kept pulling me in, never letting me go.
Stepping Forward Despite Anxiety
Do you sense God’s leading in some direction, but fear or doubt are holding you back? While avoidance can give us a temporary sense of relief, taking a step toward the very thing we fear can be empowering! As we look toward the new year, let’s reflect on those things that might be holding us back from taking those steps we’ve been avoiding, and instead, commit to taking a step of faith, and walking into a life of fullness, blessings, and peace.
Developing a Positive Mindset in Life
In my experience, negative responses are simply the easiest responses because they require neither intentional thought nor self-discipline. So, if we want our gut responses to be more positive and beneficial, we have to be intentional about building the mindset needed to pull it off. The mind has to be trained. Practice the Pause: We don’t always have to respond right away. Sometimes even just a few seconds is enough for us to choose our responses.
Having an Open Heart
Open Heart
When we see that in our life, we have received far more than what we deserve or are capable of, then gratitude draws in us. We become thankful, complaints disappear and abundance grows. Gratitude is a habit and a gesture of the heart, so to compliment this theme, classes will be building toward “heart opening” poses. We will be building strength in our backs in order to support the process of opening our hearts and breathing into that space that is often protected.

Yoga can help us to nourish ourselves during times of transition. Whether it be the seasons changing, moving jobs, losing a loved one, going back to school, or just getting out of bed in the morning. It is all inside of us at any point and yoga invites us to ask ourselves how we are holding it. How are we holding ourselves during difficult times or periods where it feels unsteady?
