Shannon is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from Eastern Illinois University. She has been providing counseling services to clients of all ages (children to geriatric) since 1997.
Shannon has worked in various settings including: community mental health, child welfare, substance abuse, residential, healthcare, and schools. Special areas of interest include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, relationship/family difficulties, grief and loss, trauma, stress, self-esteem, and life transition/adjustment issues.
Shannon prides herself on rapport building and establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship with her clients. She provides a compassionate, non-judgmental, and positive atmosphere to promote personal growth and emotional well-being. Shannon has an eclectic approach to therapy that is strength based and client driven.
Shannon draws from some of the following treatment approaches: cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and motivational interviewing. When working with children, she utilizes play therapy techniques to allow for creative expression and development of healthy coping skills. Shannon enjoys working with clients of all ages and tailors all treatment interventions to the individual.
